Charlize Theron: Be Like Her!
Artists and Social Causes. The two go hand in hand and have a long history together.
Here’s my latest discovery: Charlize Theron. Like many of her contemporaries, she’s not content to sit around dieting and having her nails done as she waits for her next big Hollywood film. She started her own production company, and makes it her job to get to her office on Sunset Boulevard when not on the film set.
In addition to handling her acting career, Denver & Delilah Films handles her charitable contributions. One of her many charities is helping to equip mobile health clinics that travel throughout South Africa helping to stop the epidemic spread of HIV among the teenage population.

I do admire Ms Theron for not being the typical Hollywood starlet at the clubs all night and not only having a serious work ethic but also giving back to the community.
I think it’s quite noble for artists to give back but to be honest, I don’t think it should be a requirement but instead a personal choice. There are also artists who are purely interested in their craft and I think that’s ok too, although I have to say that yes, being famous does give you wonderful platform to contribute to any causes that are dear to your heart.

I had no idea she started her own production company. It drives me crazy when movie stars who make $5-50 million dollars a year give $10,000 and make it look like a big deal. That $10,000 is like the average person giving $1 to charity…..big deal, right? Besides, they need a bigger tax write off, right? I think she chooses a great charity/non-profit to give her money to. We need to help those who cannot help themselves in Africa due to the corrupt govt.’s over their.
