Liz Nichols graduated from the NYCDA 2-Year Program in 2006. After graduation, she chose to go a different direction from acting, into broadcast news. She began as a reporter in Terre Haute, Indiana. Not long after, she moved on to the NBC affiliate in Evansville, Indiana (WFIE) where she’s currently the weekend anchor and still reports during the week. As a reporter, Liz has covered numerous stories: The Indiana National Guard’s largest military deployment since WWII; The Great Flood of 2008; two tornadoes; a 5.1 earthquake; and the Indiana 2008 Primary Election, where she was honored to have a one-on-one interview with the Barack and Michelle Obama. In her first year of reporting, she won 1st Place from the Society of Professional Journalists, in the “Best General News” category.
“The training I received at NYCDA and the experiences I gained there were priceless. Even though I’m not acting, the camera techniques and vocal training have helped me
tremendously in my career in the news business. My time there opened up so many doors for me and I will always treasure it. Thank you NYCDA for helping me reach my dreams!”
